JAYAPURA - The Covid-19 cases in Papua continue to experience an increasing trend in recent months.
By data from the Covid-19 Task Force of Papua, the cases have now reached 34 cases until July 26.
Regarding this condition, the Spokesperson of the Covid-19 Task Force of Papua, Silwanus Sumule, urged Papuans to return wearing masks, in addition tracing and testing activities which must now be increased again by the provincial, district and city governments.
Meanwhile, the Jayapura City area needs to be given special attention related to preventing the transmission of Covid-19, because of the number of active cases in this week which has doubled.
"Special attention needs to be paid to Jayapura City, because the increase in active cases of COVID-19 in one week has increased from 7 cases on July 20 to 17 cases on July 26, 2022," explained Silwanus in Jayapura Wednesday (27/7/2022).
Silwanus invited the community to remind each other of the importance of social distancing. Because the prevention of the transmission of the virus is by reducing social interactions with each other, both indoor and outdoor.
"Even if we are forced to continue to carry out the health protocols, both always wearing masks, washing hands and keeping a distance. Of course, we continue to invite various parties to conduct massive and continuous education about prevention efforts because the pandemic is not over yet," he said.
The Head of the Health Department of Papua, Robby Kayame, encouraged residents to implement strict health protocols and follow the Covid-19 vaccination. Because the third dose vaccination is one of the efforts to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.
"And of course here tips also encourage the media to help us about the importance of vaccination to anticipate the next wave," he said. ***
