JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government supports joint collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) to handle PLHIV cases and violence against women and children (gender-based violence).
"For this reason, the Papua Regional Secretary assigned related Regional Work Unit in the Papua Provincial Government such as the Health Office, Social Service, BKKBN and KPAD of Papua Province to carry out further coordination so that there could be immediate action from both parties regarding this good collaboration for the benefit of Humanity in Papua, explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto, in Jayapura, Tuesday (30/8/2022), after a closed-door meeting between the Regional Secretary of Papua, Ridwan Rumasukun and UNPFA officials.
The UNPFA world institution is a world organization under the auspices of the United Nations and has a representative in Indonesia who pays serious attention to health improvement programs in Papua.
Currently, UNPFA is implementing programs in the field of reproductive health which include maternal health, adolescents, family planning and HIV management.
"For this reason, the purpose of visiting Papua is to offer cooperation in these fields," said Jeri.
In the meeting, Regional Secretary of Papua, Ridwan Rumasukun was accompanied by Suzana Wanggai Kaban, Border Manager and Foreign Cooperation and Robby Kayame, Head of the Health Office.
According to Jeri, the Regional Secretary expressed his high appreciation for UNFPA's attention and commitment in the humanitarian sector, especially for the Papuan people.
"The Papua Provincial Government welcomes the cooperation with UNFPA and is ready to facilitate and support work programs that will be implemented in Papua," he said. ***
