JAYAPURA - The Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD) of Papua immediately increased the delivery of information about the natural disaster early warning system, in order to anticipate the fall of casualties.
According to the Chief Executive of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Papua Province, Weliam R Manderi, his party will also cooperate with BBMKG Region V Jayapura, so that the delivery of information about potential natural disasters or early warning systems can be conveyed properly, including procedures for dealing with them.
"Of course, we have prepared a disaster early warning system with the BMKG. The goal is to warn residents when it is about to happen, and already know what to do, said Welliam in Jayapura, Tuesday (6/9/2022).
He realized that about 65 percent of the threat of hydro meteorological disasters often hit Papua. It indicates that Papua Province is very vulnerable to being hit by floods and landslides.
So that existing residents need a better disaster early warning system, so as to prevent casualties and other related matters.
"These floods and landslides are the biggest threats in Papua. Areas that are usually flooded such as Jayapura City, Sarmi and others, this area is vulnerable and there can be floods several times every year. So it needs good handling and anticipation as well," he said. ***
