JAYAPURA - The Papua Communication and Informatics Department reminds residents in Papua not to just click on links on their Facebook, WhatsApp and social media, because they will be the victims of cybercrime which has recently harmed many parties.
"The mode is to attract citizens to click on a link or links, and usually cybercriminals will tempt users of lottery gadgets or similar things whose purpose is to persuade someone to earn money".
"When clicked, our personal data can be stolen and which can be used for cybercrime," said the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri A. Yudianto in Jayapura, Friday (23/9/2022).
In addition, the most important thing is not to collect data on the place and date of birth, full name or address and telephone number. Because these data are commonly used by residents to take care of important documents in banks, government and others.
"Now people in their daily lives are inseparable from playing on social media. One of them is on the Facebook application and then WhatsApp, so that we should be wise in sharing posts or personal data".
"The point is that we remind ourselves that in social media, we must be careful not to be too open in exposing personal information or personal activities, that way it can protect ourselves," he urged.
On this occasion, Jery urged residents to continue to update their security on each of their social media accounts. This way can prevent data leakage that is used by certain parties to take advantage. ***
