JAYAPURA - Deputy Minister of Home Affair Jhon Wempi Wetipo led the raising of the red and white flag under the sea waters of Jayapura, on the day of the 94th Youth Pledge Day, Friday (28/10/2022).
The ceremony and the raising of the Red and White flag, carried out at a depth of 12 meters under the sea of Tanjung Kayu Pulo and 62 divers of Jayapura City.
"Papua has a good sea, we want to invite young people in Papua to interpret the day of Youth Pledge by participating in preserving the underwater nature," said Wetipo.
Wetipo said that the reason he led the raising of the flag under the sea was to motivate indigenous Papuan youth to build the area through real work. Because the future of the nation is now in the hands of the Youth, especially with the extraordinary technological leaps today.
"The hope of the country today rests on the youth. Therefore, there needs to be a revival of spirit without any difference," he said.
Wetipo again invited the younger generation of Papuans not to be too involved in group conflicts of interest. Moreover, to the point of having to die in vain on one's own land.
"That is, let's make these differences as a force to build a better Papua in the future. Moreover, Papua is currently in bloom.So now is the time for us to work together hand in hand to advance Papua," Wempi invited. ***
