JAYAPURA - Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun handed over assistance to the families of the victims who died, due to the earthquake that hit Jayapura City, on Thursday (9/2/2023).
The assistance was handed over directly through the staff of the Treasurer of the Papua Provincial Government Secretariat, Cisno.
"In essence, assistance is given to victims of the earthquake disaster as a deep sense of sorrow".
"Donations are also given to help ease the burden on families affected by the earthquake," explained the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri A. Yudianto, through his short message, Friday afternoon.
It is known that the Meteorological Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released an earthquake that occurred at 13.28 WIB or 15.28 WIT, centered at 2.60 LS and 140.66 BT at a depth of 10 kilometers.
If drawn in a straight line, the earthquake in the shallow category is indeed only about 1 kilometer southwest of Jayapura and 6 kilometers southeast of Jayapura City.
Referring to BMKG data, the Jayapura City area and its surroundings have been shaken by a barrage of earthquakes up to 1,055 times since January 2, 2023 and there have been 120 incidents felt by the community.
Finally, the earthquake in Jayapura killed four people, and a number of buildings were damaged. ***
