JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government will prepare an inclusive public kitchen for residents of Jayapura City who were displaced by the earthquake.
However, public kitchens were only set up to serve special refugees such as pregnant women, the elderly and children.
"These people are the priority because their nutrition must be maintained, so we prepare an inclusive public kitchen. If the needs of other public refugees can be met by ordinary kitchens, "said the Head of Satpol PP and Papua Regional Disaster Management, Welliam R Manderi, Tuesday.
He continued, the public kitchen will be established at the BPBD Papua Office which will serve the needs of food and beverage, according to the number of special refugees that exist.
"The BPBD Jayapura City is the leading sector, while we only support it".
"So we will use the data to serve the needs of pregnant women, the elderly and children through this public kitchen," he said again.
Meanwhile, Manderi stated that his party would continue to support the work of the BPD of Jayapura City to deal with residents who are now in displacement.
"Currently, there are 16 evacuation points in Jayapura City. We would also like to thank the TNI/Polri and other stakeholders who have helped set up tents for refugees," he added.
He said he should remain vigilant about the potential for aftershocks and avoid damaged or cracked house buildings due to the earthquake. ***
