JAYAPURA - The pace of development of the number of sea transportation passengers in Papua during January 2023 shows a slowdown from the previous month.
Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua shows that passengers departing using sea transportation in January 2023 have decreased by 43.78 percent, from 28,629 people to 16,095 people in December 2022.
It was described by the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Papua Adriana Carolina in a statement to the press on Wednesday (1/3/2023) in Jayapura.
"From BPS Papua's monitoring, the number of sea passengers dropped in January 2023. The decline reached 43.78 percent," she said.
In contrast, the number of passengers who arrived by sea freight in January 2023 experienced an increase of 8.47 percent from 19,445 people in December 2022 to 21,092 people.
Meanwhile, the volume of goods loaded in January 2023 was recorded at 14,627 tons, down 27.87 percent compared to the volume in December 2022 of 20,280 tons.
"The volume of goods unloaded in January 2023 was 113,657 tons, an increase of 15.47 percent compared to the volume in December 2022 of 98,430 tons," she said. ***
