JAYAPURA - Acting Assistant for Economic Affairs and People's Welfare of Papua Regional Secretariat, Suzana Wanggai ensures that the availability of staple food in the market during Ramadan, March 2023, is still sufficient and fulfilled.
The same is the case with the price of staple food according to the Papua Provincial Government team's search in the market which are still sold at normal prices.
"So far, the stock of staple food supplies is fulfilled, and the price of goods is also still fairly normal in the market. We hope everything improves until the next Eid," explained Suzana in Jayapura, Wednesday (29/3/2023).
Meanwhile, continued Suzana, the Papua Provincial Government together with related parties is also actively monitoring the stock and price of staple food in the field to anticipate inflation (increase in prices of goods and services in general), during Ramadan and ahead of the upcoming Idul Fitri.
"The point is that we also carry out various activities to suppress inflation. Both conducting coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders, as well as field monitoring," she said.
Still related to that, Suzana asked the public not to worry because the selling price and stock of staple food are still under control. She also appealed to the public not to make panic purchases which ultimately disrupted the availability of staple food.
Meanwhile, traders are advised not to sell at prices above those set by the local government. "Including not hoarding goods by taking advantage of the moment of elaboration. Even if there is a price increase, it must be under the procedure," she urged. ***
