JAYAPURA - In order to pursue the target of achieving Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in 2023, the Papua Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) is again planning a program to eliminate motor vehicle tax fines (PKB) for residents of Jayapura City and its surroundings.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Regional Revenue Management Agency (Bappenda) of Papua Province, Setiyo Wahyudi, in Jayapura, Friday.
According to him, the motor vehicle tax fines elimination program was submitted to the Governor of Papua for approval and decision regarding the program mechanism. However it will certainly be the same as last year.
"What will be like, I think we will wait for approval from the Acting Governor of Papua. Then we will convey to the public the mechanism for exempting tax fines," explained Setiyo.
About the realization of PKB revenue until May 8, 2023, Setiyo said, it has only reached 29.69 percent or IDR 36.2 billion from the target of IDR 122.2 billion. The low achievement prompted Bapenda Papua to re-launch the PKB tax penalty exemption program.
"This PKB has indeed slowed down a bit, this condition occurred the same as in previous years."
"Until we make an effort to boost PKB revenue at the end of the first semester of 2023. It is the usual exemption from tax fines, but there will be other efforts as well," he said.
Setiyo added, in addition to increasing revenue, the PKB fine elimination program also aims to increase public awareness of paying local taxes.
It's just that, he continued, Bapenda Papua must "pick up the ball" with various innovations because public awareness as taxpayers is still low. ***
