JAYAPURA - The ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) of Papua Province are reminded to maintain neutrality and not engage in practical politics ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to the Head of the Civil Service Police Unit of Papua, Welliam Manderi, the ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit and Community Protection Unit are state apparatuses with the National Armed and Police Force and General Election Commission overseeing the process of the upcoming 2024 simultaneous elections. Thus, neutrality must be upheld by the ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit and Community Protection Unit.
"The ranks of Civil Service Police Unit and Community Protection Unit located in regencies and cities have an important role in assisting the implementation of elections. "
"So, of course, we hope that the ranks of Civil Service Police Unit and Community Protection Unit can maintain neutrality with related parties to maintain the running of the democratic party to run smoothly," explained Manderi in Jayapura, Tuesday (23/5/2023).
Another important thing is expected by Manderi, so that the ranks below him can participate in maintaining security and order in the surrounding environment ahead of the 2024 Election. This rank has the function of implementing the regulations of the regional head and contributing to maintaining public order.
"Community Protection Unit will handle the community in the surrounding environment. The Papua provincial government is only coaching, which has a role, namely the city district".
"So, we appeal to the ranks of Civil Service Police Unit and Community Protection Unit throughout Papua to carry out their duties properly, because not only community protection but they also function in disaster management," he said. ***
