JAYAPURA - The Republic of Indonesia Employee Corps (Korpri) contingent of Papua Province will be officially released by the Daily Executive of Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, on June 30, 2023.
The release of the Papuan team to the Korpri National Sports Week (Pornas) on July 13-23, 2023, in Semarang, Central Java, is planned to be centered at the Governor Office, Jayapura.
"The Papuan contingent will be released on June 30, 2023, together with the Team from Indonesian Community Recreation Sports Committee (Kormi) of Papua who will compete at the National Sports Festival (Fornas) Bandung, West Java, early July 2023".
"The release is simultaneous because there are two national events carried out simultaneously in the same month (July), with almost close dates," explained the Head of the 2023 Korpri Papua Contingent, Aaron Rumainum, in Jayapura, Thursday (15/6/2023).
Arron added that the Papua team is currently making a series of preparations to go to Pornas Korpri Semarang. Three of the five sports that were participated in had even done sparring by participating in local competitions held by the Papua Regional Police.
Nevertheless, Aaron ensured that the Papuan team did not set a target of winning medals at Pornas Korpri Semarang, even though each sport had the ability and spirit.
"The main reason for participation from Papua in the Pornas Korpri event is the spirit of togetherness between fellow Civil Servants of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
10 sports will compete at Pornas Korpri 2023 Semarang including Futsal, Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Gateball, Chess, Korpri Gymnastics, Bicycle Racing and Basketball.
This national agenda was followed by provincial contingents and ministries/institutions throughout Indonesia. The Papuan Contingent will participate in five sports out of 10 contested, namely Futsal, Tennis, Volleyball, Korpri Gymnastics, and Basketball. ***
