JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua recorded imports to Papua in May 2023 without oil and gas commodities.
However, the Head of BPS Papua, Adriana Helena Carolina stated that in May 2023, the import increased by 33.45 percent or recorded at 29.65 million US dollars (US) when compared to April 2023 which was worth 22.22 million US dollars.
"The imports in May 2023, although they have increased by 33.45 percent, there are no oil and gas imports."
"This means that all imports are non-oil and gas commodities which have increased by 167.82 percent," explained Adriana in Jayapura, Friday.
Meanwhile, non-oil and gas commodities that have the largest import value, continued Adriana, come from the class of machinery and mechanical equipment and parts (HS84) which has a value of 8.82 million US dollars or 34.18 percent of the total import value of major non-oil and gas commodities.
Meanwhile, the cumulative import value of oil and gas is worth 61.28 million US dollars from January to May 2023. "The cumulative import value of non-oil and gas in Papua is worth 127.04 million US dollars in the January-May 2023 period," she said.
It is known that imports of the 10 main non-oil and gas groups were recorded at 25.81 million US dollars in May 2023, an increase of 175.12 percent compared to April 2023 of 9.38 million US dollars.
Meanwhile, imports from seven major countries in May 2023 were recorded at 25.80 million US dollars, an increase of 16.82 percent compared to April 2023 of 22.08 million US dollars. ***
