JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government through the Communication and Informatics Department encourages Papuan millennials to keep the situation and condition of the digital space safe and under control, ahead of the upcoming 2024 election contestation.
It was conveyed by the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department Jeri A. Yudianto in Jayapura, Wednesday (21/6/2023).
According to Jeri, according to data submitted by relevant agencies, the number of voters in the upcoming 2024 election is dominated by young people or millennials.
"So now we must really encourage millennials to take responsibility for supporting the course of all stages of the election by maintaining the situation and conditions in the digital space."
"It is clear that the election stage that runs until 2024 needs the support of all citizens in Papua. Young people are no exception," explained Jeri.
According to Jeri, the efforts made by millennials in maintaining digital space ahead of the 2024 Democracy party, include filtering every piece of information received in the digital space before being forwarded to social media.
Because in 2024 democracy, digital space will become a means of space for hate speech for some interests.
"There have been many issues or news related to the election that is fake news or propaganda that collide one party with another. It is happening more in the digital space."
" If this is left unchecked, of course, it can muddy the situation and break unity. Therefore, we continue to invite millennials to wisely see the existing content and not be easily provoked because there is a kind of invitation to break the union, especially on social media," he said. ***
