JAYAPURA – The contingent of the Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Committee (Kormi) of Papua, officially released to Bandung Regency to participate in the implementation of the VII West Java National Recreational Sports Festival (Fornas), 2 to 9 July 2023.
The release ceremony was carried out by Assistant Secretary of Papua for Economic Affairs and People's Welfare, Suzana Wanggai, Tuesday (27/6/2023), at the Governor Office, Jayapura City.
In her direction, Assistant Suzana advised athletes not to prioritize medals but sportsmanship when competing.
The most important reason for Papua's participation in the national event is how to establish togetherness with other provinces in Indonesia.
"There must be winners and losers in the race. The point is that we must be sportsmanlike because the existence of Papua is also to maintain the unity of the nation to build togetherness," she said.
Suzana believes that the Kormi contingent of Papua will present medals, especially since the number of main sports followed at Fornas Bandung has increased.
"Hopefully, it will go well and I really believe (the Kormi contingent of Papua will return home with medals) by looking at the faces of athletes who look like the aura of champions," she said.
It is known that the VII West Java National Recreational Sports Festival in Bandung will be held on July 2-9, 2023. This event competed in more than 70 sports with a target of being attended by more than 20 thousand activists. ***
