JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government plans to invite some investments in clean energy, such as hydrogen and solar panel power.
This is related to electricity consumption in Papua which is still considered very low, because there is not much use in business and industry, but there are wide-open energy trade opportunities.
"It can all be pursued through cooperation between the provincial-regency governments, development partners, State-Owned Enterprises, Regional-Owned Enterprises, the private sector and indigenous peoples."
"Meanwhile, to realize a forum for meeting and commitment, such as the energy forum, which some time began the formation process by meeting in the pre-establishment workshop of the energy forum in Papua which was opened by the Governor in Jayapura City yesterday," explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Agency, Jeri A. Yudianto, Saturday (25/5/2024).
Jeri further said that the forum would later agree and be able to work together as one community in the energy ecosystem in Papua.
This forum became an important lesson for the government in the New Autonomous Region, both in the south, highland, central and even in Papua.
The main objectives of the series of activities for establishing energy forums, among others, building understanding to accommodate aspirations and involve energy stakeholders.
"The Papua Energy Forum is also a forum for discussions related to the energy ecosystem in Papua, the effectiveness of the implementation of the Regional Energy General Plan (RUED), and the existence of a multi-stakeholder platform in our region," explained Jeri, quoting Governor Ridwan's statement.
In addition, cooperation in developing sustainable energy in the Papua region is a step forward that deserves appreciation.
So it is hoped that the Papuan Energy Community Forum will become a productive and useful forum to advance sustainable energy in Cenderawasih Earth. ***
