JAYAPURA - Acting Secretary of Papua, Derek Hegemur encouraged all relevant parties to instill the values of Pancasila to all children of the nation, more specifically the younger generation (Gen-Z).

Pancasila is the best ideology for the Indonesian nation in which the values of national insight are contained.

"Currently, there is a new generation (Gen-Z) who also has a big contribution to development that we need to strengthen their national values. Especially now that the information media is widespread, anyone can access it anywhere and anytime."

"Pancasila must be the basis, even though we are open to information. So that the younger generation does not lose their identity, commitment to the values of Pancasila and filter all information that is not by the culture and spirit of this nation," explained Derek, after the commemoration of Pancasila Birthday, at the yard of the local Governor's Office, Jl. Soa Siu Dok II, Jayapura City, Saturday (1/6/2024).

According to Derek, Gen-Z has the ease of connecting with many people from various parts of the world so that they have the potential to think regularly.

The openness of the younger generation accepts various views and mindsets, potentially causing them to easily accept diversity and differences in views on something. The impact affects the way they think and behave towards things.

This has the potential to dilute their view of the noble values of Pancasila, where this phenomenon must be watched out for considering Gen-Z is the potential successor of the nation in the future.

"Therefore, today we jointly collaborate in one ceremonial activity with one determination and mutual commitment as children of the nation, we commemorate the birthday of Pancasila encouraging Gen-Z to maintain the noble value of Pancasila.

"And as a government, we remain committed to serving the community by continuing to instill the spirit of patriotism through the noble value of Pancasila for all Papuans, especially the younger generation," he said.
