JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun claimed that the achievement of macro development indicators in Papua is currently improving.
Nevertheless, he admitted that it should be improved.
"The indicators of the Human Development Index (HDI), economic growth, poverty, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and several other indicators, have declined quite encouragingly".
"However, there are still several macro indicators that need to be improved. Such as the high unemployment rate and poverty rate," explained Acting Governor Ridwan at the Papua House of Representatives Plenary Meeting with the agenda of submitting and discussing the 2023 Papua Governor Accountability Report, in Jayapura City, Tuesday (11/6/2024).
While questioning the submission of the Papua Provincial Government's Accountability Report for the 2023 fiscal year, Governor Ridwan realized that improvements should be made, so that the suggestions and inputs of the Papuan House of Representatives are important for its perfection.
"Therefore, we highly appreciate the various inputs of the Council, on theresponsibility report of the Governor of Papua for the 2023 fiscal year, both in the form of criticism and suggestions, as well as various sharpening of the substance of the responsibility report."
"It is believed that the criticism and suggestions given by the council are very valuable and beneficial for the Papua Provincial Government, in the implementation of development programs, as well as in the preparation of LKPJ in the following years. This means that it has a positive impact on improving the quality of development and the quality of responsibility report," he explained.
Ridwan on this occasion expressed his gratitude for the support of the Papuan House of Representatives who jointly encouraged the improvement of the achievement of macro development indicators in the local area.
He hopes this cooperation will be built between local governments, the Papuan House of Representatives, vertical agencies, SOEs and Regional-Owned Enterprises, academics, the private sector and all levels of society to jointly build Papua Province as we aspire together. ***
