JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government appreciates the existence of three Cross-Border Posts (PLBN) of RI-Papua New Guinea (PNG) built by the Central Government. There is PLBN Skouw Jayapura City, PLBN Sotta Merauke Regency and PLBN Yetetkun Boven Digoel Regency.
The Papua Provincial Government is currently encouraging the construction of PLBN in Keerom Regency.
The PLBN is believed to be able to strengthen the economic sector of Keerom Regency.
"The existence of PLBN in Keerom is certain to improve services between the two countries. But the most important thing is to strengthen the economic sector at provincial and district levels," explained the Head of the Papua Border Management and Cooperation Agency, Suzana Wanggai, in Jayapura City, Monday (24/6/2024).
She added that he would immediately coordinate with various parties to discuss the location of the construction to reach an agreement that benefits both countries.
"The hope is that there will certainly be a border forum meeting shortly. So that we can discuss it and make the territorial boundary between Indonesia and PNG clearer," she hoped.
Keerom Regent, Piter Gusbager stated that five priority locations can be used as options for the construction of PLBN.
The five areas are Skofro, Yabanda, Bias, Paitenda and Akarinda Villages.
"These five priority locations are spread across three districts in Keerom Regency. Hopefully, the existence of PLBN in Keerom can clarify the boundaries and rules between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea," he concluded. ***
