JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun handed over Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) at four locations in Mamberamo Raya Regency, to support the provision of internet in the region.
The submission of VSAT during the visit of the Acting Governor of Papua in the context of coaching and supervising the implementation of the government, preparations for the 2024 Regional Head Election and monitoring the implementation of national strategic programs in Mamberamo Raya, Friday (12/7/2024).
"I appreciate the initiative of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office which encourages the provision of VSAT to help people get internet services in installed areas."
"But the important thing is the maintenance and use of this VSAT by the local government so that internet services can continue to run in four locations," Ridwan hoped.
The Governor on this occasion also asked the community to jointly maintain the facility (VSAT), so that it can continue to be beneficial for all parties.
The four units of public sharing VSAT will be distributed in four locations, namely SMK Negeri 1 Burmeso, Pustu Bormeso, SMP Negeri 1 Kasonaweja, and Trimuris Health Center.
Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Service, Jeri A. Yudianto, said that each VSAT will have a capacity of 6 Mbps plus Supporting Devices including Access Points, UPS and MikroTik to support the availability of internet access at the installed location.
In addition to being used to support education/health facilities, the internet from VSAT can be accessed by the public for free via Wi-fi outside of service/school hours.
"Wi-fi access even has a maximum radius of 50 - 75 meters from the installed VSAT location."
"The installed VSAT is also equipped with solar panels due to limited electricity supply at the location," he said. ***
