JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency of Papua recorded six main countries worth 3,826.09 million USD in June 2024. This figure decreased by 38.89 percent compared to the value in May 2024 of 6,260.93 million USD.
However, Papua's exports to other countries increased by 37.42 percent when compared to the January-June 2023 period of 8,588.46 million US dollars.
"Even cumulatively, Papua's exports to six main countries in the January-June 2024 period were recorded at 27,303.70 million US dollars, an increase of 23.50 percent when compared to the January-June 2023 period of 22,108.51 million US dollars," explained Head of BPS Papua Adriana Helena Carolina in Jayapura, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in general, Adriana stated that Papua's exports in June 2024 were recorded at 4,022.85 million US dollars, down 36.96 percent compared to the previous month which was worth 6,380.98 million US dollars.
This is seen based on the type of Papuan exports in June, namely oil and gas and non-oil and gas exports, amounting to 0.15 million US dollars and 4,022.70 million US dollars, respectively.
"Once again, when viewed cumulatively, Papua's total exports in January-June 2024 amounted to 38,931.96 million dollars, an increase of 40.20 percent compared to the total exports in January-June 2023 which were worth 27,768.74 million US dollars," he said.
Adriana added that exports to Papua were non-oil and gas in the form of timber and wood goods (HS44) worth 3,791.11 million dollars. Then fish and other aquatic animals (HS03) worth 68.54 million dollars and other non-oil and gas exports amounted to 163.05 million US dollars.
"Then there are four largest export destination countries for Papua, namely Australia worth 3,222.80 million US dollars or 80.11 percent, New Zealand worth 326.65 million US dollars or 8.12 percent, Papua New Guinea worth 163.77 million USD or 4.07 percent and Japan worth 97.41 million USD or 2.42 percent," he concluded. ***
