JAYAPURA - The Head of the Border and Foreign Cooperation Agency, Suzana Dewijana Wanggai was confirmed as the Acting Regent of Yapen by the Acting Governor of Papua, M Ridwan Rumasukun, at the Governor's Office, Soa Siu Street Dok II, Jayapura, Monday (29/7/2024).
After nine months, Suzana replaced Welliam Robert Manderi as Acting Regent of the Yapen Islands. Welliam Manderi submitted his resignation because he wanted to run for the upcoming November 27, 2024 Regional Elections.
The inauguration is based on the Minister of Home Affairs Decree number 100.2.1.3-4137 of 2022.
Acting Governor Ridwan in his direction reminded Suzana of the main task of maintaining security, peace and order in Yapen. Including keeping the situation safe and conducive by collaborating with the Coordination Forum for Regional Leaders.
The main task is to facilitate the preparation of the election to the inauguration of the definitive Yapen Islands Regent.
"Not to forget to maintain the neutrality of civil servants in the Yapen area because they mustn't side with one of the candidates for the regional head."
"The Acting Regent of Yapen is also obliged to implement national strategic programs, including stunting and nutrition management programs, inflation control programs and extreme poverty reduction," said Ridwan.
Meanwhile, Suzana Wanggai stated that she was ready to carry out all the mandates entrusted to her. Including completing the national strategic program to reduce stunting rates, the success of the Polio Immunization and reducing poverty rates.
"We will also strive to improve the regional economy to reduce the inflation rate in Yapen," she said. ***
