Acting Secretary of Papua Doren Wakerkwa appreciates the performance of multi stakeholders, more specifically the Regent of Jayapura, who is persistent in encouraging the acceleration of sea toll utilization at Depapre Port.
This was revealed from monitoring the readiness of the Sea Toll at Depapre Port, Thursday (1/14/2021).
The Secretariat said that the sea toll road is very important to support the economy of Papuans, especially in the field of distribution of food logistics, in order to reduce the level of proficiency in Papua.
On the other hand, it aims to boost the economy by sending back containers that come in with natural resources, owned by Papua.
Nevertheless, the Secretariat is aware that technically there are many things that must be improved to support the Sea Toll in Depapre.
Such as the availability of road infrastructure, bridge and other public facilities. "But it will be resolved if the joint work between the Central Government, Provinces, Districts, as well as indigenous parties and other relevant stakeholders. With the main goal of welfare of Papuans," he said.
The Regent of Jayapura, Mathius Awoitauw, hopes that there will be cooperation and division of duties from all parties to be able to immediately prepare this Sea Toll program.
Like the port area, it is the responsibility of KSOP to equip the less. Then, the land route to be consolidated with the relevant parties, both provincial and district and central governments.
As for the economy, he asked economic stakeholders to be able to prepare the business world in taking these opportunities.

Known, Depapre port has Multipurpose Pier II with a length of 150 m. Cement Pier 206 m, liquid bulk pier 124 m and container pier 206 m in a shady bay area.
This pier is believed to be one of the largest ports in the northern region of Papua and historically records the port of Depapre, a former landing of allied troops during World War 2 in the Pacific region.
During the monitoring visit, several civil heads from Papua Province (Department of Transportation, Department of Communication and Informatics, Public Order Police and National Disaster Relief Agency and Agency for Regional Development); Vice Chairman of the Papuan House of Representatives, Regent and Head of Jayapura Regency Regional Apparatus Organization, KSOP, PELNI, Director General of Customs of Papua and Regional Water Utility Company as well as several indigenous leaders in the local area.
