JAYAPURA - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe urged the relevant agencies to immediately complete the construction of the road to the venue of the National Sports Week (PON) XX 2021 immediately.
This was confirmed by Governor Lukas when monitoring the readiness of National Sports Week venue and road infrastructure to the match venue by helicopter, Friday (09/10/2021). The Governor under review was accompanied by the Chairman of National Sports Week Committee of Papua, Yunus Wonda.
"I ask the Public Works and Housing Department to finish quickly, moreover I see heavy construction equipment already on site," he said.
While related to the review, Lukas admitted he wanted to take a closer look at the process of building the venue and supporting infrastructure, considering the implementation of National Sports Week is now just counting the days.
"Once again I ask for road access to the match venue to be completed immediately. Like road access to paragliding venues in Kampung Buton, Jayapura City," he stressed.
The Chairman of National Sports Week XX Committee of Papua, Yunus Wonda said the review began from the existing venues in Jayapura City to Jayapura Regency.
"Basically the Governor asked for road access to the venue that needs attention, and he (the governor) has called the Head of Public Works and Housing Department of Papua".
"Then we also ask the Papua Sports and Youth Office to record all venues that have been built, then submitted to the committee to be able to use all facilities, both in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke Regency and Mimika Regency," he explained.
Yunus Wonda added, it is now just waiting for the rugby venue which is expected to be completed this week, because it only rolls out synthetic grass carpets. ***
