JAYAPURA- Chairman of the National Sports Week (PB PON) XX Papua, Dr Yunus Wonda, SH, MH and the Chairman of the Supervisory and Steering Committee, Major General National Armed Forces (Purn) Dr. Suwarno, Sunday morning (19/9/2021) officially received the National Sports Week XX Contingent at Theys Eluay Airport, Sentani, Jayapura district.
Contingents that arrived Sunday morning include DKI Jakarta, Central Kalimantan and Lampung using Garuda airlines national flight number GA 656 from Soekarno Hatta Cengkareng Airport.
During the day following the contingent of West Java, Bali, West Papua, Banten and Nusa Tenggara using Garuda Airlines, Lion Air and Citilink flights.
Chairman of National Sports Week Committee XX, Dr Yunus Wonda, SH,MH expressed his appreciation to the contingents who had arrived in Papua. He assured the athletes and officials that the committee, the government and the community in Papua will serve the entire contingent well.
"I represent the chairman of National Sports Week Committee Papua and the Chairman of Sub- Committee of Jayapura Regency to express my gratitude and pride to the contingent of athletes and officials who have come to Papua," he said when hosting athletes and officials who transited at the Barnabas Youwe Stadium (SBY), Sentani.
Wonda also expressed his gratitude to the sports ambassadors who arrived today very enthusiastically with the committee's service.
"Your journey is quite far away, but I saw a contingent of happy smiles with our welcome. I hope this atmosphere remains in the air until you return to the province. I express my appreciation and gratitude," said the Deputy Speaker of the Papua Parliament.
At the same place, chairman of the Supervisory and Steering Committee of National Sports Week XX Major General, National Armed Forces (Purn.) Dr. Suwarno said the welcome of the contingent went well in accordance with the planning and simulations that have been done.
"The arrival of the contingent is served in accordance with the simulation of pick-up activities. The contingent arrived at the airport picked up by the event field committee and then headed to the vehicle and directly to the welcoming place in the parking area of Barnabas Youwe Stadium," he said.
Arriving at the stadium, they were greeted by a typical Papuan dance. Then they were served for eHac validation and ID Card activation. Then rest, snacks then delivered to their accommodations.
"Their luggage was handled by the committee," Suwarno explained.
Welcoming the first day's contingent was attended by the Chairman of National Sports Week Committee XX Yunus Wonda, Head of Field I of National Sports Week Committee, Yusuf Yambe, Head of Jayapura Youth and Sports Office who is also Chairman of Field I of National Sports Week Sub-Committee in Jayapura Cluster, Yaan Yoku Regency.
