JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government is strongly committed to implementing the concept of sustainable development by developing low-carbon development which will be mainstreamed into the green growth development document.
In this regard, Head of Planning and Development of Bappeda Area of Papua Province, Edison Howai said the preparation of Regional Spatial Plan of Papua will still maintain environmental sustainability.
"This is so that it will not leave a disaster for posterity in the future. Because maintaining the environment is the most important and should not be ignored," said Edison at the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Public Consultation III preparation of the Revision of the Regional Spatial Plan of Papua Province, Tuesday (22/3/2022), in Jayapura.
Edison said, one of the purposes of FGD activities and public consultations is to harmonize data and information between the Regional Apparatus Organization in the local government and other stakeholders with the document for the preparation of the revision of the Regional Spatial Plan of Papua.
For example, regarding the issue of roads, whether they are in areas that can be used or enter conservation areas that should not be passed.
"So this activity is very important because all data belonging to the Regional Work Unit will be harmonized. Don't make it free, but the reality and conditions on the ground can be different," he said.
Imelda Sihombing, Representative of the Papua Spatial Planning Program admitted that his party is a partner of the Papua Provincial Government to support the arrangement of Papua's space in order to become an instrument that can really prevent deforestation or land degradation.
"We were given a mandate by the Ministry of Home Affairs to support spatial arrangements in Papua. We together with Bappeda Papua are trying to realize three aspects, namely the economy, environment and socio-culture can be aligned in the revision process that we are supporting," he said.
He added, this is like the vision of Papua 2100 which has designed spatial arrangements for the benefit of the future in order to still be able to enjoy a good and orderly environment, but also the economy is improved, independent and prosperous. ***
