JAYAPURA - The Draft Regional Regulation of Papua as a national sports province is now immediately encouraged.

This is as stated by the Head of the Sports and Youth Department of Papua Province, Alexander Kapisa, in Jayapura, Tuesday (26/4/2022), after officially beginning the 'kick-off' of Papua as a national sports province.

"With this kick off Papua as a national sports province begins and we have collaborated with the Faculty of Sports Science, Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Jayapura in terms of academy, to encourage the Draft Regional Regulation," he explained.

Alex targets, the ratification of the regulation will be completed within this year as well. This is not impossible, because Papua Province has recently registered itself as one of the provinces that successfully held events such as the National Sports Week (PON).

"In essence, this announcement is a continuation of Papua's success as the host of PON XX and Peparnas XVI 2021 ago".

"So that this kick-off is the initial stages that we do, especially president Joko Widodo also approves Papua as a sports province," he said.

While some of the efforts made today have gone through the stages of academic studies with the relevant universities. It is expected to proceed immediately to the discussion and completion of administrative problems to the legislation.

"This means that if all discussions from both the government and Uncen have been completed, then the next step is met in legislation with the Papuan People's Representative Council (DPRP). The point is that we encourage the completion of this Regulation to be completed in 2022," he said. ***
