JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Contingent contributed three medals at Fornas VI Palembang, South Sumatra, Monday (4/7/2022).
The competition was held at the Convention Center, Arya Duta Hotel, Palembang, the Papuan actually showed the potential to win many medals in almost all classes.
However, Papuan team had to settle for three medals at once in the -60 class.
Interestingly, all the medals were won by the Papuan team, with gold won by Paul Sergius Rumperyai, silver by Yon Gombo and bronze by Marthen Yusuf Bonay.
Pilarius Wanimbo, a companion of the Papuan team, admitted that he was proud of the results. Considering the participation of the Papuan team in the sport of Panco, it was the first time.
"Of course this will be a boost of enthusiasm for us in the management of POGTI Papua, which is in charge of Panco sports, so that we can be more accomplished in the future," he said.
Meanwhile, Paul Sergius Rumperyai said he was happy with the result. He also promised to be ready for the best results at the West Java Fornas event next year.
"This is the first time we won a gold medal. Of course, we will maintain this result in the next Fornas," he said. ***
