JAYAPURA - President Jokowi provided business capital assistance to traditional traders in Doyo, Jayapura Regency, during his working visit to Papua, Wednesday (31/8/2022) morning. Assistance for business capital and the staple food was received by representatives of traders.
Monitoring journalists, the arrival of the President and his entourage was immediately greeted by cheers from Papuan women “Mama Papua” who were selling vegetables, and also handicrafts. Some also appear to occupy stalls built sober by the local village government.
While greeting Papuan women traders selling under the hot sun, President Jokowi also bought vegetables and fruits.
The President's visit at the Doyo Baru traditional market lasted only 20 minutes, then the President and his entourage moved towards the Healthy House, built by the Ministry of Social Affairs for victims of the flash floods in 2019.
One of the traders, Lepina Wenda, said she was very happy and proud to be visited by the number one person in the republic.
"Thank you, Mr. Jokowi, for paying attention to us Papuans, May God bless you forever," said Lepina, who sells fruits. She was even happier because her products were directly bought by the President.
A sense of joy was also expressed, Orpa Arwom, who admitted that this was an unforgettable moment in her life, because for the first time she met the President of the Republic of Indonesia in person.
Orpa hopes that the arrival of Jokowi, who sees their condition, can help to build a decent selling place.
"We are grateful and very happy, Mr. Jokowi has visited us. We hope that after seeing the condition in which we are selling this, in the future the President can help us, so that we can get a safe, comfortable place to sell without being exposed to heat and rain," she said. ***
