JAYAPURA - The Ministry of Home Affairs officially appointed Regional Secretary Ridwan Rumasukun as the Acting Governor of Papua, through the Minister of Home Affairs Letter Nomor 100/326/184/SJ, dated January 11, 2023.
The appointment relates to the legal problems of Governor Lukas Enembe, who is now in the custody of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for alleged corruption cases.
To reporters at his residence, Thursday (12/1/2023), Acting Governor Ridwan Rumasukun admitted that he had received an assignment letter through the Whatsapp application. Meanwhile, the letter is being physically taken by the Assistant for General Affairs of the Papua Regional Secretary, Derek Hegemur in Jakarta.
Responding to the assignment, Ridwan made sure to immediately invite Forkompinda Papua to conduct a coordination meeting to ensure that condition in Papua remained safe and controlled.
"Coordination with Forkompinda as soon as possible (after I was appointed as Acting Governor) because it is the most vital, especially regarding security," he explained.
According to him, there is no specific task given by the Ministry of Home Affairs to him. However, he made sure that he would encourage public services, community and government as well as development, so that it would continue as usual.
"There is no specific instruction. But from the letter of duty, the administration of the government running well. Then for the community, of course, we hope to provide support to the local government, as well as to officials who carry out their duties in accordance with applicable regulations," he explained.
Commenting on the use of the new governor's office, Ridwan stated that he would only move after the arrangement of the surrounding area in the new building was completed.
"Hopefully it will move on as soon as possible. Because the point is that the building has been completed 100 percent, but the work on the new area is running. If we work there, it will affect the working conditions and employees who work there," he said. ***
