JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government says it is ready to support and cooperate with local banks, to realize digitalization and modernization of the government payment system, through the development of Regional Government Credit Cards (KKPD).
This support was conveyed by the Daily Executive of Papua Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, in his statement to the press, Thursday (4/5/2023), in Jayapura, responding to the development of KKPD by the Regional Development Bank (BPD) Papua.
"The Papua Provincial Government is ready to support and cooperate with Bank Papua for the development of KKPD. This aims to realize more accountable governance, for the sake of improving public welfare," he explained.
According to Governor Rumasukun, Bank Papua is a local regional bank that was selected as one of the six KKPD development pilots with other national banks.
The development of this KKPD is through limited testing by Bank Indonesia, together with the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) on 5 April - 5 May 2023. Bank Papua has been declared successful in conducting one hundred percent testing.
"For this reason, during this process, we pray that the development of this KKPD can be even better in the future, in supporting the modernization and digitalization of the local government payment system," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto believes KKPD will be more popular in the future, considering that the payment system is easier, more practical and improves financial management more accountable
"Moreover, we are currently increasingly in the era of digitalization. So that in the future, I believe that the local government will be better at supporting development," concluded Jeri. ***
