JAYAPURA – Papua Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun assessed that one way to eradicate corruption is through the development of good financial governance with a professional supervision system scheduled by internal and independent auditors.
Nevertheless, making it happen requires support in the form of commitment from all relevant parties. The commitment must be made and implemented not only by the highest executive leadership but also legislatively.
"For this reason, a joint commitment was signed between the Governor of Papua and the ranks and elements of the Leadership of the Papuan House of Representatives today. The signing witnessed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is a commitment and effort to prevent corruption in the planning and budgeting of the 2024 Regional Budget, said Ridwan in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Thursday (6/7/2023), on the sidelines of the agenda.
Ridwan said, through the signing of an integrity pact between the Papua Provincial Government and the Papuan House of Representatives, it is hoped that all parties are committed to implementing the 2024 Regional Budget, from the preparation of planning until it will be used, there will be no misuse of regional finances.
"No bribery, gratification, extortion and other corrupt practices. In addition, it prioritizes the values of integrity and the interests of the general public," he said.
In the same place, the Deputy Speaker of the Papuan House of Representatives, Yunus Wonda, ensured that he was ready to commit to the Papua Regional Government to implement the commitment of the signatories of the integrity pact, namely corruption prevention in the planning and budgeting of the 2024 Regional Budget.

"We must avoid things not to do, especially avoiding corruption, gratification, bribery and so on," Wonda explained.
With this joint commitment, continued Wonda, in the future Papua can be clean from corrupt practices so that governance can run as expected by the community.
