JAYAPURA – President Jokowi gave high appreciation to Papuan elementary school students who are very quick to answer math questions.
It was made when meeting 100 elementary school students from seven districts in Papua, Friday (7/7/2023), in Jayapura City.
They are students who have participated in the Mathematics Gasing program by Prof. Yohanes Surya for the past two weeks.
A student named Jose Agusto Kerokouw (10 years old) received appreciation from the President after giving math questions with a bicycle gift.
"He is really fast, really smart (in answering math problems)," said Jokowi who then decided to give a bicycle to Jose, after giving questions 1,800 + 2,100, which were immediately answered by the student.
Jose's intelligence, who is currently in grade V at Kalam Kudus Jayapura Primary School, has been seen since the first question.
Then on the following questions, Jose still continued to answer quickly so that the President finally asked himself not to answer.
"Jose, you can't come first, you answer really fast," Jokowi pleaded, which then made the whole room wide-eyed laugh.
Jose Agusto Nerokouw's intelligence was recognized by Yoanes Surya. He said Jose was one of the brightest students.
His counting ability is considered to exceed other students, even Jose is able to make calculations with a considerable number of numbers.
Meanwhile, Jose Agusto Nerokouw admitted that he had been fond of mathematics since the 2nd grade of elementary school and was interested when he joined the Yohanes Surya program.
He also felt happy after meeting the President and getting a bicycle gift. "I am happy to meet the President and sit next to the President, I am proud, the President said that I am smart," he said. ***
