SEMARANG – The Daily Executive of Papua Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun accompanied by the Acting Secretary of Papua Derek Hegemur, checked athletes ahead of the opening of the 2023 Korpri National Sports Week (Pornas) Central Java, Friday (14/7/2023), at MG Setos Hotel Semarang.

Starting the athlete check, Governor Ridwan, who likes to exercise, invited the entire group consisting of Heads of the Regional Apparatus Organization to walk as far as four kilometers round trip, from Ciputra Hotel to MG Setos Semarang.

"It is extraordinary the spirit of the Governor who walks to check athletes on foot. This morning walk while enjoying the coolness of the local city and of course, cultivate a healthy life.  But in essence, what is expected from this visit, the athletes are excited and get an injection of morale ahead of the opening of Pornas Korpri this afternoon and during the competition," explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto, on the sidelines of the agenda. Jeri on that occasion, asked for the support of the prayers of the entire people in Papua so that the athletes who will compete starting July 15, 2023, can present and bring home the best results."

Again, as instructed by the leadership, Indeed, winning is not the main goal. Friendship will take precedence between fellow Korpri members. While the medal is certainly a bonus.  “Nevertheless, I make sure the athletes will fight desperately to make the good name of the Papua region proud," he said.

It is known, at the 2023 Pornas XVI event in Central Java, Papua Province has five sports. The five sports are Futsal, Basketball, Korpri Gymnastics, Volleyball and field tennis. ***
