JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Papua released that the number of passengers departing by sea in June 2023 reached 16,907 people.
According to the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Papua, Adriana Carolina, this figure increased by 17.30 percent from May 2023 of 14,414 people.
"The number of sea passengers rose by 17.30 percent in June 2023. The increase in sea transportation occurred both at the Jayapura sea port and at the Merauke seaport," Adriana said in Jayapura, Monday.
Meanwhile, for the number of passengers arriving by sea transportation in June 2023, she continued, it increased by 0.65 percent, from 17,481 people to 17,595 people in May 2023.
"But it does not apply to the volume of goods loaded in June 2023 recorded at 12,745 tons, where this value decreased by 51.41 percent compared to the volume in May 2023 which was 26,230 tons."
"Likewise, for goods unloaded in June 2023, it was recorded at 107,473 tons, a decrease of 18.28 percent compared to the volume in May 2023 of 131,513 tons," she concluded. ***
