JAYAPURA - Acting Assistant Secretary of Papua for Economic Affairs and People's Welfare, Suzana Wanggai invites residents of Jayapura City and its surroundings to watch and enliven the international friendly match between the Papua Indonesia Select football team and Hekari United FC, Papua New Guinea (PNG).
The match will be held at Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, Friday (18/8/2023).
"The match between the two football teams is an event to commemorate 78th Indonesian Independence Day."
"Therefore, let us encourage those who have the opportunity to come and watch the match," explained Suzana in Jayapura on Thursday.
According to Suzana, the reason for bringing in the PNG professional football team was because of the strong desire of the neighboring country to compete with the Papuan team.
On the other hand, as a means to strengthen solidarity and brotherhood between the two countries on one mainland and island.
"The PNG team is quite famous in the Pacific region but they want to meet us in Papua," she said
Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto hopes that Jayapura residents will participate in activities to enliven the 2023 Indonesian Independence Day.
