JAYAPURA - In three days, all residents of Papua together with people throughout the country will commemorate the 78thof the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Papua Provincial Government fills the commemoration of the Indonesian Independence Day with various social activities, competitions, events and sharing love with the families of fighters.
The Acting Assistant Secretary of Papua for Economic Affairs and People's Welfare, Suzana Wanggai asked all residents to fill the independence with a number of activities that benefit the wider community.
She cited the example of a mother, Petronela Merauje who fought for the environment and eventually received the Kalpataru award from the central government.
"Petronela has struggled to protect the environment and is a real example of how to achieve independence. These are the positive things that the government expects," said Suzana, in her statement to the press, as a Keynote speaker in an interactive dialogue at RRI Jayapura.
According to Suzana, there are actually many positive things that can be done ahead of the momentum of Indonesian Independence Day. The positive thing caneven be channeled through the field of service and profession in the workplace.
"Of course, it needs public awareness as well. In essence, we do something for the benefit of many people as the services of our heroes who have been willing to sacrifice for the independence of the Indonesian nation," she said.
Separately, the Head of the Communication and Informatics Department of Papua, Jeri Yudianto invites the young generation in Papua to maximize their potential. Because the baton of development rests on the shoulders of the younger generation.
"We invite the younger generation to continue increasing their capacity, competence and quality. So, we can compete in the midst of an infinite world."
"So, let's get rid of negative thoughts but replace them with positive things for the sake of our nation and country," he said. ***
