JAYAPURA - The Hekari United FC (Papua New Guinea) team, which has just arrived in Jayapura City, Tuesday (15/8/2023) night, has conducted field trials on Wednesday (16/8/2023) afternoon.
Hekari FC manager, Vonnie Kapi Netto was amazed by the field grass and facilities that became the venue for a friendly match between her team and Papua Indonesia Select.
Lukas Enembe Stadium, according to her, is very special and magnificent to make all players very excited to play a debut match with the Papuan team in commemoration of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
"It's our first time here, the facilities (Lukas Enembe Stadium and the grass) are amazing," Vonnie said in Jayapura.
Hekari United coach, Erickson admitted that he was happy that his team could get the opportunity to compete with football clubs in Indonesia (Papua).
According to him, football in Papua has very good development and is famous in foreign countries, especially the Persipura Jayapura club.
"I'm grateful to be part of this club, we're here not only for friendship but to show that we've got what we're capable of in football. We are very happy because it is our first time traveling abroad. We are ready to play tomorrow," he said.
Meanwhile, Mettu Duaramuri, the coach who handled the Papua Indonesia Select team with Eduard Ivakdalam, stated that the men’s team had prepared the squad a month ago to provide an interesting match in the friendly match.
"We’re ready to give the best match. It's a historic match and we've prepared the team as well as we can," he said.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Papua Indonesia Select vs Hekari United FC Friendly Match, Elia Loupatty ensured that the readiness of the match equipment was 100 percent. Thematch will be led by a referee from PSSI.
