JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province announced the yoy (year on year) inflation rate of Jayapura City of 2.30 percent and the mtm (month to month) inflation rate of Jayapura City of -0.14 percent.
The education and transportation group contributed the largest contributor to inflation or increase in goods and services last August, namely 16.06 percent and 11.53 percent respectively
"There are also other groups that contribute to inflation. Such as clothing and footwear by 0.94 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 1.01 percent and health group by 1.07 percent.
"Then the leisure, sports and culture group by 0.47 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.64 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 1.85 percent. But even so, the education and transportation group is the largest," explained the Head of BPS Papua, Adriana Carolina Helena, in Jayapura, Monday (4/9/2023).
Adriana hopes that there will be steps from the local government to reduce the inflation rate this September. Nevertheless, she considered that the efforts made by the local government are currently maximized.
It is known that the inflation rate for the calendar year/year to date (ytd) (January-August)2023 is 1.14 percent.
Meanwhile, yoy inflation of foodstuffs in August 2023 was -2.23 percent, as well as the mtm inflation rate of -0.53 percent, and the ytd (year to date) inflation rate of -0.85 percent. ***
