JAYAPURA – The Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun encouraged the holding of the 2024 Presidential Elections, Legislative Elections and Regional Elections to run smoothly, safely and peacefully.

Therefore, he instructed the local General Elections Commission (KPU) to immediately coordinate with the security forces to minimize and anticipate conflicts before, during and after the holding of the People's Democracy Party next year.

The Chairman of Papua General Election Commission, Steve Dumbon stated that he was ready to encourage the safe and peaceful implementation of the Presidential Election and Legislative Election in Papua. His party has encouraged the stages of the implementation of the Presidential Election and Legislative Elections to run as scheduled.

"We have also coordinated with the General Election Commission in 8 districts and 1 city throughout Papua. However, the land status of the Papua KPU Office is still problematic so we still do not dare to finance activities such as arranging yards and office fences."

"The budget support for the implementation of elections is still under discussion with the National and Political Unity Agency of Papua," he explained.
