SORENDIWERI - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun asked the Supiori Regional Government to increase the role of the Integrated Service Post so that they can take part and play an important role in reducing stunting rates in the region.
This affirmation was conveyed by Governor Ridwan, during his working visit in Sorendiweri, Supiori Regency, Wednesday (4/10/2023). The governor highlighted the problem of stunting in Supiori through prevalence data which reached 40.2%, or the highest in Papua.
However, Ridwan appreciated the steps taken by the Supiori Regency Government and all parties involved in efforts to reduce stunting.
Other programs, nutrition programs, health counseling, and community empowerment are integral parts of the solution to overcome the problem of stunting.
"We have seen some significant progress in efforts to reduce stunting in Supiori. However, this journey is still long and there needs to be a joint commitment from all parties including the local Family Welfare Empowerment Driver Team," he hoped.
It is known that the highest stunting rate in Supiori is in North Supiori District at 37.4%. While the lowest in West Supiori District at 11%.
Situation analysis data also shows that the highest prevalence is found in Aruri Village at 53.57% and the lowest in Masyai Village at 11%.
While stunting children are highest in Wongkei Village at 30% and the lowest in Insumbrei Village at 7%.
Ridwan added that he would continue to collaborate with the district government, related institutions, and local communities to ensure that the stunting handling program runs optimally.
"Therefore, in this working visit we will see the implementation of the stunting reduction program that has been carried out."
"We will listen to the experiences, challenges and solutions that have been found by stakeholders. We will also talk directly with local communities to understand their perspectives," said Ridwan.
Meanwhile, during his working visit, Governor Rumasukun and his ranks handed over a stunting handling assistance package to the local government.
Among others, mosquito nets 7,300 pcs, worms Albendazole 128,000 tablets and pyrantel pamoate 4,000 tablets. Then blood booster 818,000 tablets, vitamin A 13,350 tablets, malaria drugs DHP 5,616 pieces and RDT 7925 fruits and mineral mix 160 pieces from the Papua Health Office.
2650 kg of rice and 1 unit of sago processing building work and processed fish food for stunting handling from the Agriculture Office and the Papua Fisheries Service.
Productive plant seeds in Yan Doker Village and Speedboat 1 unit for mangrove protection in Sowek Village from the Papua Forestry Service. 200 book titles totaling 274 copies from the Papua Education Office.
Meanwhile, the Logistics Affairs Agency of Papua provides 10 kg of Beneficiary Family assistance with a target of 2,207 families and food package assistance with a target of 100 people.
In addition to providing assistance for handling stunting, the Cheap Food Movement was also launched in Supiori Regency, to maintain supply and control inflation as well as naming tree seedlings in the Supiori Regent Office Yard. ***
