JAYAPURA – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua announced that Jayapura City will experience inflation of 1.28 percent in September 2023.
According to the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Papua, Adriana Carolina, inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index.
"Inflation occurred in the food, beverage and tobacco group at 1.25 percent and the clothing and footwear group at 0.94 percent."
"Then the health group is 2.25 percent, the transportation group is 3.45 percent and the leisure, sports and culture group is 0.47 percent," explained Adriana, in Jayapura, Thursday (5/10/2023).
Meanwhile, according to Adriana, the increase also occurred in the education group by 5.18 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.67 percent, and the personal care and other services group by 2.04 percent.
Meanwhile, some of the dominant commodities contributing to inflation include rice, air transportation and chicken meat. Meanwhile, some of the dominant commodities contributed to deflation, including cooking oil and yellowtail.
"In September 2023, the expenditure group that contributes to inflation is the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.42 percent."
