JAYAPURA - The meeting of Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin with religious leaders and human rights activists in Papua, Tuesday (10/10/2023),at the Governor's Office, Jayapura City, resulted in a five-point formulation.
This was revealed by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Papua, Subhan Hamid Massa to the press, after the meeting.
"There are five points of formulation as the result of the dialogue, first solving problems in Papua needs to prioritize the customs and culture of Papuans. Second, an economic and legal approach that is fair and firm."
"Third, the government is really present in all aspects (of the city to the interior). Fourth, reconciliation is based on culture and the government must understand the habits of Papuans. And security handling must be humane so that it does not cause trauma, "explained Hamid.
Another important thing that became a discussion in the formulation, he continued, was the encouragement to the government to present a Human Rights Court (HAM) in the Papua region, especially in Jayapura City. So, there is mutual trust between the Papuan people and the government regarding the handling of human rights issues.
"What is happening now is a sense of mistrust, both from the central government to Papua and vice versa. This needs common ground, one of which is proposed, namely the presence of a Human Rights Court in the Papua region," he said.
It is known that the meeting of the Vice President with Papuan Religious Leaders and Human Rights Activists took place on the 4th floor of Papua Governor's Office, Jayapura City. A total of 15 representatives of religious leaders and human rights activists in Papua attended the meeting. ***
