JAYAPURA - Handling juvenile delinquency will be a serious concern for the Department of Education in Papua Provincial this year.
According to the Head of the Papua Education Department, Christian Sohilait, the role of parents is considered insufficient. So the provincial government felt the need to intervene to minimize juvenile delinquency "We will likely form a team to deal with this problem of juvenile delinquency in Papua."
"This team consists of a combination of related Regional Apparatus Organizations, namely the Department of Education, Civil Service Police Unit, Department of Industry and Trade, and Social Services," explained Christian Sohilait in Jayapura, Tuesday (1/16/2024).
Christian said the team will work to deal with issues such as ‘aibon children’, sexual violence and others.
The technical services in the team have their respective roles in dealing with the problem of juvenile delinquency. For example, Social Services will deal with the parents of a particular child.
Then the Department of Industry and Trade is tasked with providing skills training for these children. Meanwhile, the Civil Service Police Unit is tasked with capturing children who have problems or roads.
"The point is that this team will only be formed in 2024. We are waiting for the submission of the DPA, after that we will execute the formation of the team."
"I think with this joint team the problem will be solved, so far the problem has not been resolved because it has not involved various parties," he said. ***
