JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua noted that chili commodities are still one of the highest contributors to inflation in recent months.
Cayenne pepper also contributes to the highest inflation with a value of 0.22 percent in January 2024.
"The inflation rate on a month-to-month (m-to-m) basis is 0.01 percent in January 2024 with the largest contributor being cayenne pepper commodities, 0.22 percent," explained Head of the Papua Central Statistics Agency Adriana Helena Carolina, in Jayapura, Friday.
However, other commodities still contribute to inflation in January 2024. Among others, tuna by 0.11 percent, shallots by 0.08 percent, and garlic, bottled water, cooking oil, and rice by 0.02 percent each.
"Indeed, the development of prices of various commodities in January 2024 generally shows an increase."
"Even based on the results of monitoring districts/cities of the Consumer Price Index in Papua Province, in January 2024 there will be year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 1.52 percent, or an increase in CPI from 102.30 in January 2023 to 103.85 in January 2024," she said. ***
