JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun encouraged his citizens to commemorate the Gospel Message Day (HPI) 2024, as an encouragement to spread the love and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The HPI has a deep and important meaning for all people in the land of Papua. "HPI commemoration has entered the age of 169 years. This commemoration is not just a ceremonial ceremony, but an event of reflection and introspection," explained the Acting Governor in a written speech read by the Expert Staff of the Governor of Papua, Ani Rumbiak in the 169th Gospel Day Service in the Land of Papua, Monday (5/2/2024), in Jayapura City.
The Acting Governor also invited all people in the land of Papua to unite to strengthen faith, love and hope. That way, all parties can become light in the land of Papua, but also in all corners of the world.
"The point is that we are now also asked to be able to see the extent to which we can apply the teachings of the gospel in our daily lives especially in various dynamics and modernization today," he said.
The same was conveyed by the Chairman of the GKI Port Numbay Class Workers Agency, Rev. Andris Tjoe. According to him, the GKI church institution will continue to inflame the spirit of evangelism in 2024, with the theme of empowering the congregation.
"But the important thing is also that we have to respect our fellow children of God. All church denominations are also obliged to protect and invite harmony and pray for each other," he invited.
He also called on all citizens to believe and commit to spreading hope in Jesus Christ to be proclaimed throughout the world. Church members are also obliged to have an impact on the nation and state.
"Respecting the differences in religion and beliefs of others is important in religious moderation in Indonesia," he said.
The HPI commemoration at the local Governor's Office, Jayapura City, was attended by more than 5,000 Christians. Thousands of these congregations come from sector A, B and C service areas in GKI Port Numbay. ***
