JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government immediately asked the distributor for an explanation, regarding the findings of Minyakita sales above the Highest Retail Price (HET). The Minyakita HET set by the previous government was IDR 14,000 per liter.
"If necessary, traders who sell above IDR 14 thousand will give a warning (and there will be sanctions) so that they no longer sell above that price," said the Head of the Papua Trade and Industry Office, Omah Laduani Ladamay to reporters, Thursday (7/3/2024), in Jayapura City.
Laduani admitted that he was surprised because he recently found that the sales of Minyakita brand cooking oil in Jayapura City exceeded the highest retail price. This finding starts from reports of people complaining about the selling price of cooking oil.
"Even though the highest retail price of Minyakita is IDR 14 thousand."
"If there is a finding above the price, it means that there is a price spike in the field.
We found that Minyakita issold for IDR 17 thousand so we must immediately put it in order," he explained.
Laduani added that he had written to the Papua Food Task Force regarding the findings of the Minyakita price increase. It will also ask for the direction of the Acting Governor of Papua to respond to the findings.
"We will coordinate with the Papua Food Task Force on the steps that must be taken because it is already against the rules. We will also ask for the direction of the head of government for the solution," he said. ***
