JAYAPURA—The Papua Provincial Sports and Youth Office (Disorda) contributed Regional Original Revenue (PAD) worth more than IDR 2 billion until October 2024.
This value exceeded the revenue target previously set by the agency, amounting to IDR 1.3 billion.
Regional Original Revenue is sourced from the usual rental of some former venues of PON XX 2021 managed by the Papua Sports and Youth Department, including the Papua Bangkit Stadium in Jayapura Regency.
"The Papua Sports and Youth Department is playing a significant role in finding ways to increase Regional Original Revenue through ex-PON venues built to international standards and can be commercialized, but all activities must comply with applicable regulations."
"We continue to strive to increase Regional Original Revenue and anyone who wants to hold an event, please submit a letter to the Papua Sports and Youth Department, the use of the venue is in accordance with the Regional Regulation on regional taxes and levies," said the Acting Head of the Papua Sports and Youth Office, Sonya Monim. in Jayapura, Monday (28/10/2024).
Sonya emphasized the importance of good communication for the community as tenants of the former PON Papua venue.
"The Regional Regulation has indeed regulated the amount of rental costs, but we can adjust it to the events that will be made by the community," she explained.
She added that although everyone has the right to use the facility, following the applicable rules and jointly maintaining the facilities at the venue is mandatory.
"The tenants are also required to ensure security at the sports venue, well maintained and fully responsible for maintaining all venue facilities, so that they are not damaged either intentionally or unintentionally," she said.
Meanwhile, the Wisma owned by the Papua Provincial Government located on Mandala Street Dok V, North Jayapura District, Jayapura City will certainly be coordinated with the local KONI for its management in the future.
"So, it is hoped that it can bring in Papua Regional Original Revenue as well," she said. ***
