JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua recorded monthly inflation of 1.41 percent in the development of the local Consumer Price Index (CPI).
However, two other provinces of Papua also experienced inflation in November 2024, namely Central Papua and South Papua.
Central Papua experienced inflation of 0.37 percent and then South Papua 0.25 percent. However, for the Mountainous Papua Province, deflation is 0.15 percent," said the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Papua, Adriana Helena Carolina in Jayapura, Monday.
According to Adriana, inflation occurs in the three provinces based on expenditure groups such as Papua Province monthly, BPS noted that six parts experience inflation and one experiences deflation and the other four do not experience inflation or deflation.
"The group that provides the highest monthly inflation in Papua Province is food, beverages and tobacco at 1.24 percent and deflation in personal care and other services is 0.12 percent," she said.
She explained that for South Papua, six expenditure groups experienced inflation, two groups experienced deflation and three groups experienced inflation and deflation.
"The highest monthly inflation contribution in South Papua was recorded in food, beverages and tobacco at 0.15 percent and deflation in the housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups as well as the equipment and routine maintenance group at 0.1 percent each," she said.
According to Adriana, then in Central Papua, there are seven expenditure groups experiencing inflation, one deflationary and three not experiencing inflation and deflation.
"And the highest contribution to inflation was in the food, beverage and tobacco group, which was 0.29 percent and the contribution of monthly deflation was recorded in the clothing and footwear group at 0.1 percent," she said. ***
