JAYAPURA – The Papua Province Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) continues to carry out several priority projects despite being affected by budget efficiency policies from the central government.
Head of the Papua Province Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Amos Wenda, assured that activities directly addressing community needs are still being implemented.
“We have indeed been significantly impacted by the budget efficiency measures, but the activities at the Papua Province Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency are still proceeding as usual,” said Amos.
According to him, projects valued under IDR 1 billion are still being executed, especially those focused on public service access.
“We prioritize activities that directly benefit the community,” he explained.
One such ongoing project is the construction of the Biak–Supiori connecting road. Previously funded through the Special Allocation Fund, the project is now financed through the Infrastructure Transfer Fund, albeit with a limited budget of only IDR 10 billion.
“This year, the Papua Province Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency is managing a Budget Implementation Document worth around IDR 100 billion. The focus includes road repairs, provision of clean water, and drainage systems damaged by extreme weather,” Amos stated.
He added that road management is divided according to authority. National roads, such as the Abepura–Sentani segment, fall under the responsibility of the National Road Agency.
“Meanwhile, provincial roads will be prioritized based on urgency,” he concluded. ***
